Moving On

Now that your ensemble is starting to sound good, they are reading basic rhythms, matching pitch etc., it’s time to move on to more challenging literature. The list below is not difficult but requires a bit more effort and experience to do well. These pieces are all “Tried and True” and are sure to be a hit with your singers!

What’s the difference between 3-part mixed and SAB? In a perfect world, 3-part mixed would have a range of F (below middle C) to D (above middle C). My arrangements generally fit into that category. It allows low alto boys and new baritones to share the same part. SAB would be C to C or Bb to D. Unfortunately, publishers and music dealers tend to lump them all together so you MUST check the ranges to make sure they fit your ensemble. Remember the “Rounds PLUS” book will allow you to find the “sweet spot” for your young men’s voices. Choose your music range accordingly.
